UnmadeUp Thalia

Next photo gallery from my project 👉 UnmadeUp is from my session with Thalia. An amazing, vibrant and beautiful woman I met here in Tallinn last year. I could chat with her for hours without getting bored. And that was one of the challenges I faced in this photo session. Because we had such a lively chat, it was a bit harder to capture the right moment. I didn’t want to stop her from talking, because it’s how I get to know my model a bit better. And the better I know a person, the better chance I have to capture an authentic moment.

Another challenge in this particular session was the light. Especially for this kind of photos, I always ask my model which location is comfortable for them. In this case, Thalia chose her home. If you follow my blog and photos for a while, you may have noticed that I do not use any artificial light. I do not even own a flashlight. So I always have to deal with what’s available. And I love it, because it challenges my creativity, it doesn’t distract me or my model, and it always looks totally natural. However, this location was a bit darker than I thought. There’s a beautiful window on one side, but that’s all. The rest of the room had no windows. But as I said, it challenges you to be creative and find new perspectives 😊.

  1. I love that project and the way you are capturing these portraits. For me that is the essence of portrait photography.
